Shout It Out Book Awards - KS1

5th March 2019

KS1 children at Upper Beeding Primary School enjoyed taking part in the ‘Shout It Out’ Book Awards, picture books for children. Children get to read four new storybooks and then vote online for their favourite book. The authors of the chosen books particularly like to win this award as the stories are voted for by children rather than by adults. Mrs Gilpin, Year 1 and 2 Leader, says “Upper Beeding Primary School are fortunate to be able to participate in these awards annually because they enable the children to hear four new books and to read purely for enjoyment and pleasure.”

Upper Beeding are also very fortunate as Steyning librarians give up their time to come into school and do interactive activities with the children to find out what they know about each book, characters, setting, story etc and then read the books to the children. This year Pat Southen and Beverley Kinahan came in to talk to the children and they were both very impressed at how well the children knew each book.
