Gold Sports Award!

16th November 2018

A Gold Medal for our Sport
The children and staff at Upper Beeding Primary School were delighted to receive the news that we have been awarded 'Gold' for this year's Sainsbury's Sports Mark Award!
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are thrilled to have been recognised for our success.

This is an award to recognise our commitment to encouraging children and giving them the opportunities to participate in sports.

  •     - We have plans in place for all children to access to 2 hours of curriculum PE per week inclusive of extra-curricular provision
  •     -  At least 60% of our children engage in extra-curricular sport every week
  •     -  We have links with a number of external clubs and sports providers in the community
  •    -   Using the Sainsbury’s School Games format, both boys and girls will take part in at least 10 intra-school competitions and 6 inter-school competitions throughout the 2018/19 academic year
  •     -  At least 10% of our KS2 students engage in leading, managing and officiating School Games activities
  •     -  Our children are involved in daily playground games set up and run by sports leaders
  •     -  Leadership meetings and specific roles are given to our sports leaders to raise the profile of sports across the school
  •     -  We run the daily golden mile and this is monitored by sports leaders and PE leader and year group data is collected termly.
  •     - We consider ourselves to be a healthy school

We are extremely proud of our success and look forward to all of the sporting events that the upcoming year has to offer.
